Embodiment means expanding the ability to fully experience each moment. It’s not just about thinking or feeling but sensing with your entire being—vibrant, present, and awake. It means tuning into your body as a sensitive instrument, one that guides you, informs you, and can transform each moment into the table on which you are composing the feast of your life. As we become more embodied, we feel more—both the beauty and the discomfort. This heightened awareness sharpens our ability to discern what truly nourishes us. We won’t love every sensation, just as we don’t love every flavor. Embodiment gives us the power of choice, the ability to move toward what enlivens us and step away from what doesn’t.
Imagine yourself as a wild, complex, fantastically tuned instrument capable of turning every moment, every sensation, every breath into nourishment that could unlock new depths of feeling, meaning, and connection. What if your life could be a vivid composition, constantly evolving and full of unexpected flavors?
For the body, healing is the transition from dysfunction to function. Healing the psyche, however, is different. We define it as an expansion of one’s range of choices—especially in moments of activation. There is no single "right" way for the psyche to respond to life, but there are states of greater and lesser internal freedom. The more freedom we have, the more agency we possess.
Responsibility = the ability to respond. We see it as our responsibility to cultivate this ability—to expand our capacity to choose how we respond to life, rather than react without our own conscious participation. The broader our range, the more adaptable we become.
Like a menu, the options for how you respond to life can grow. Sample new possibilities, recognize what constrains you, and understand what draws you in. You get a chance to feel things you may have missed, and try new responses to them. By expanding your internal menu, you develop greater freedom in how you engage with life.

Annette studied Women's Studies as an undergraduate and earned her master's degree from Yale School of Nursing. She is a psychiatric and mental health nurse practitioner, a psychoanalytically trained psychotherapist, an intimacy and embodiment coach trained in the Somatica® Method, and an ABS Certified Sexologist Diplomate. She has studied with EntheoCare, LLC, and is in teacher training with SkyDancing Tantra.
My passion is working through obstacles that keep us from the wonder, awe, gratitude, and praise that I believe are our most natural response to the shimmering web of Life.
We believe each of us is a filament in the web that reflects the unity and connectedness of all of existence. We call this web the Divine. We encourage and support people having a personal and highly individual experience of the Divine, believing it is an essential and irreplaceable aspect of a human life.
Entering ecstatic non-ordinary states is the doorway to this experience of the Divine.
It can also be the catalyst to emotional, spiritual and psychological change. It can allow us to experience ourselves in new and unimagined ways both internally and in relation to others, thus paving the way for change and growth.
Tasting life is an assertion of humanity. It's an act of empowerment, freedom, communion, potentially even an act of resistance. It is our Yes to life. it's remembering the mysterious, intricate, singular beings we are, and reconnecting to the sacred flow of life that’s always been available to us all.
Ilana's backdrop of Pagan and Earth-based spirituality found unexpected resonance with Annette's Pentecostal Christian upbringing when we met studying SkyDancing Tantra. In the Tantric temple, we both found an exquisite spiritual path that was embodied, ecstatic, collective, and deeply immanent.
Meanwhile, Annette's two decades as a psychotherapist and Ilana's massage therapy practice began to weave together in surprising ways. We chose to study the Somatica® Method to learn practical tools as sex, intimacy, and relationship coaches. We found ourselves leading ceremonial work with ketamine and teaching embodiment classes to therapy clients, many of whom felt they had plateaued in their growth in talk therapy. These experiences affirmed the radical truth that had brought us together: that profound experiences, especially with others, stretch us in ways we never would have known to stretch, and enliven us in ways we could not have imagined.
Tasting Life Temple is born of the desire to live and serve in The Temple in which we share this path and help others awaken to vitality through their own transformative encounters.
With a sense of deep reverence, we bring our expertise in Tantra, psychotherapy, breathwork, physical and energetic touch, ritual and ceremony, and sacred medicines to sculpt transformational journeys. We hope to evoke non-ordinary states of consciousness which may shake loose rigid ways of being.
We invite catharsis and its capacity to undo calcified patterns. Just as strongly, we facilitate integration, the work of metabolizing raw emotional experience into meaning, where newfound openness becomes freedom - earned, claimed, and carried forward, every day.
We hold with reverence practices of radical creativity, sacred mischief, and florid curiosity, as we create the space and offer some tools for you to find your singular encounter with the feast of life - your life, all life. We trust the Divine to kindle each person's internal flame when given sacred space and invitation to burn.
We honor the spectrum of human experience, embracing life not as something to transcend, but as a sacred laboratory for self-discovery. We deeply respect authentic expression, and challenge conditioning by engaging diverse perspectives, embodying many positions, and expanding beyond limitations—trusting the path of fully living, not escaping our humanity.
We welcome people of all ages, genders and non-genders, sexual orientations or asexuals, family and relationship constellations, ethnic identities, spiritual paths, and levels of experience.
We're happy to schedule a free 15-minute call to explore what you're looking for and to see if our offerings at Tasting Life Temple are a good fit for you. We look forward to hearing from you.
